Tips To Stay Healthy During The Holidays

Time flies. It maybe a cliché but it’s so true. It’s almost hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner as we wrap up yet another year. And guess what? Right about now is usually the time when people begin to fall off their health routine.

But don’t sweat it, we have some awesome tips for you to keep your head in the game, and still enjoy the season.

Stick With It!

Don’t be a couch slug. One of the best things you can do to ensure you don’t fall off track with your goals is to stay active. You have been working way too hard all year to let it all go in the last couple of months of the year. Don’t get me wrong, the holidays are great but they certainly aren’t a reason to put your fitness on the back burner. Your health is super important. I know you realize that but I needed to say it. While your normal routine may be thrown off a bit due to travels to grandma’s house, you can still stay active. Pack your workout gear for a run around the block, take a walk after dinner, or maybe play a family game of backyard football. Every bit counts.

Eat Smart

I’m not saying you have to take a pass on those traditional family treats we all love. Just be sure to not overdo it. Too much of anything isn’t good, after all (except Fitlife Foods, shameless plug, I know!). Try this on for size. In the days leading up to the holidays, eat like you normally would. Stock your fridge with Fitlife meals and snacks and make sure you actually eat those meals,. Translation: No skipping. You can’t “save” calories for a particular day or meal and, trust me, your body will let you know that.

Drink Your H2O

Your body is made up of a ton of water so making sure you stay hydrated throughout the day is very important. It aids in digestion, can prevent overeating, and it just makes you feel great. We recommend drinking half your body weight in ounces per day at least. I know it may seem like a lot but your body will thank you. And if water isn’t always your thing try flavoring it up with sliced fruit such as strawberries, and/or herbs like mint. Also, carrying around a water bottle can help remind you to keep on drinking.

Be Grateful

It’s really easy to get caught up with life and the daily grind. And when we do, it’s easy forget about all the great stuff we have to be grateful for. You might say we’re grateful for gratitude and that’s why we like to practice it daily and especially during the holidays. It could be as simple as having healthy food in the fridge when you get home from work, friends and family that love you, or discovering your new favorite kombucha at your local Fitlife Foods. We have a lot to be grateful for and let’s never lose sight of it.
