Tampa Grab-and-Go Meal Chain Expands To Fort Lauderdale

A health-conscious, grab-and-go meal chain, founded in 2011 in Tampa, has expanded to South Florida in Broward County.

"I was inspired to start Fitlife Foods from my desire to provide healthy, delicious and convenient meals for busy professionals with active lifestyles, like myself," says David Osterweil, a marathon runner. "Our customers typically come in and grab five to seven meals every time they walk in to throw time and energy back into their lives."

About 70 percent of the menu is gluten-free with vegetarian and Paleo components. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks range in size and use 39 sauces, with 13 spice blends for selections, such as miso-marinated salmon ($9.95-$13.95) and spicy Eggplant Parmesan ($7.97). Mac and cheese is mostly crafted from carrots, onions and grains ($3.65), and the pesto with the chicken tortellini is kale-based ($7.95-$12.45).

The setting, reminiscent of a contemporary health store, is painted green with light-wood accents. Coaches discuss meal strategy and health-fitness goals with customers in a wellness room.

Hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 8 p.m. Friday. Weekends operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and until 9 p.m. Sunday.
